PICTUE'S WITH MY NEW TRAINER DOHM, NOVER

I promise I'm not THAT conceited, but I do have to say that Germany and Hungary made for a pretty great way to spend my 20th birthday! I can't believe I'm already that old, it is crazy how fast the time flies!

Let me first off just say that Hungary is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I've only seen a few towns so far, but it's enough to saz that I love it! When we got here the mission president, his wife, and the AP's picked us up at the airport and took us back to the mission home where we spent most of the day trying to not fall asleep after 36 hours of no sleep! The sister training leaders took us out for our first time streeting, that was quite an adventure and definitely an eye opener on just how little of the language I actually know! The AP's also took us to the Pékség (bakery) and got us our first Hungarian pastry, honestly I wasn't too impressed, but it was still good! Our mission president is amazing, he is a convert himself, and his wife is the sweetest lady ever! She cooked us our first Hungarian meal for dinner and bought me and Chips Ahoy Milka bar for my birthday!

On Wednesday we got assigned our trainers and our areas! My trainers name is sister Dohm! She is super cute and has been out here for about 14 months, so this will be her last transfer! We are serving in a city called Szeged, it is in the South, down by the Serbian border! I LOVE IT HERE! It is a little University town so there are a lot of younger people here! We lucked out with a super nice apartment, it is HUGE, but unfortunately that means we usually freeze in our apartment, so that's fun! Hahah we do our morning studies wrapped inside fitted sheets...they were the only things that we could find in the cupboard!

Unfortunately, they whitewashed Szeged, so we currently have no investigators, but that just provides for a lot of time spent streeting and tracting! It makes for long days, but we have alot of fun doing it! The little néni(grandmas) always make it quite entertaining! I know that there are people out there just waiting to hear the gospel though, so it is our turn to go find them! I don't have much time, but I will send some pictures and I hope you guys have a wonderful week!

HUNGARY OCT. 7, 2015

" I LOVE IT~IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL"

Well my last week at the MTC has proved to be a pretty eventful one!

GOOD NEWS... WE GOT OUR FLIGHT PLANS LAST FRIDAY! We will be headed out bright and early Monday morning! We fly from Salt Lake to Chicago, and then to Germany, and then we end up in Budapest Tuesday at about 10AM their time! It blows my mind that the time is finally here! I am so stoked!

Saturday we took our last learning assessment! I still don't know everything I need to know, but it was amazing to listen to the recordings afterwards and see how much we really have learned in our short time here at the MTC!

Sunday was our last normal Sunday since we have General Conference this weekend. Which by the way, are you guys stoked for it, cause I know I am! Growing up I definitely never took advantage of General Conference as much as I should have, but I regret that now! General Conference is such an amazing experience that we are privileged to hear from God's chosen apostles and to hear the guidance they have for us! I would challenge each of you, whether you are a member of this church or not, to write down a couple questions that you have in your life and listen to conference! Even if it is just for one session, I know that if you pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him to help you find your answer and then you truly listen to the counsel of the Prophet and his apostles, you will receive answers; I promise! Anyways, this last Sunday we took our last temple walk as a branch! While we were sitting at the temple I looked over and saw this girl and I told my companion, I was like "That girl looks a lot like my friend Aubrey, but I'm pretty sure I'm just hallucinating it because I just haven't seen my friends in forever and I really want it to be my friend." But then the girl looked up from reading her scriptures right then and we made eye contact AND IT REALLY WAS HER, IT WAS AUBREY! So she like stood up and ran over to me and just gave me this big huge hug! So that was super cool that I got to see her! 

Monday was our last day with the Albanians, they flew out Tuesday morning. It's funny cause at first we thought they were kind of crazy, but we became pretty good friends with them and it has been a lot different this past week since they left! Saturday night we had one last sand volleyball game with them and it was a blast! At one point my team kept missing the ball, so totally joking around I was like "Hey guys, can we stop sucking?" Right after that, the other team served and the ball flew straight to me and I wasn't paying attention and it just hit me and went out of bounds. I honestly didn't think it was that funny, but Elder Anderson of the Albanians started laughing so hard he was crying, so apparently it must have been pretty funny to him! On Monday we also had the opportunity to watch Richard G. Scott's funeral! Funerals are generally kind of sad, but he had such a beautiful service and everyone had only the best things to say about him. People like that truly are an inspiration to me and make me want to be a better person, so that one day people can say the same things about me! I know that I am by no means perfect, in fact I'm pretty far away from it, but it's the people we meet and the  little things that happen to us that constantly remind us to keep on trying to be better!

Yesterday was our last day of class with our teachers! How is that even real! For the first time ever they finally spoke some English to us! They shared with us some personal stories about their missions and some of the joys and the hard times that they experienced. Honestly I am somewhat scared and I have no clue what lies ahead of me in Hungary, but I am so excited to be able to go! Missions aren't easy, I've come to find that out for myself. But I've also come to gain a stronger testimony of my Father in Heaven and of our Savior Jesus Christ. And with that knowledge I also know that the future is bright for all of us! I am excited to embark on this new journey in Hungary serving the Lord and I wish you all the best until I see you again!

 Boy oh boy has the time flown here at the MTC! Tomorrow we get our FLIGHT PLANS!!!! It still doesn't even seem real! It's crazy cause everybody told me the MTC was horrible before I got here, but I actually am really going to miss this place!

On Tuesday the Lithuanians all left! They had a solo sister who was companions with  Sister Kaleopa, another solo sister who is going to Indonesia, but since the other sister is now gone, Sister Kaleopa is now one of my companions! So we are in like a quadship kind of deal! It is definitely different but it has been super fun! Sister Kal is Samoan, but she is from Brisbane, Australia, and she has the coolest accent ever!

This week has been a pretty typical week for the MTC, not too much new has happened other than that! We are currently teaching 2 investigators, 1 inactive, and then on Tuesdays we teach each other! I got paired up with my teacher as my companion for when we teach each other so that is always a little nerve racking cause I'm pretty sure that I normally just slaughter whatever I'm trying to say in Hungarian! We have had some pretty cool lessons though, and it's crazy how fast you come to love your investigators when you have only known them for a few days! 

This past Sunday we had a special devotional and Lloyd Newell, from Music and the Spoken word, came and did an MTC version of it! It was crazy awesome! At the beginning of it he asked how many of us knew who he was and not many people did, so then he said "What about this.." and started saying "We welcome you to the 187th Semi-Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!" I literally had no clue it was him who did the announcing for General Conference, but as soon as he had said 187th everyone just busted up laughing cause it totally clicked! He gave an amazing devotional all about the Savior! 

The MTC is great for many reasons, but the best part is that I have personally come to know my Savior better! It's funny cause I've always believed that Heavenly Father and Jesus love me, but it wasn't until I was in the middle of a lesson with an investigator who doesn't believe that God loves her and I had to think of the words to explain to her how I know that he does love her, that it finally clicked that I truly do know that God loves me! And not only that, but I also know that He loves each and every one of you guys! I am so thankful for this gospel in my life and for my Savior who suffered so that it would be possible to return to live with Him one day and to be with my family forever!

Hey friends and family! I hope that everything is going good for y'all!

This week has been full of some crazy adventures! Tuesday night we had the General Primary President come and speak to us for the devotional! It was awesome! She is seriously the cutest lady ever, and her talk was really awesome! One thing she said that really stood out to me is that Nephi and his 3 brothers all went on the same mission, they were all return missionaries in a sense, yet, they all got something totally different out of it. While Nephi grew through his trials and became this amazing prophet, his brothers Laman and Lemuel decided to murmur the whole trip and got nothing out of their missions. The same principle applies to all of us. We are all here on this earth living this thing called life. Each of us will have trials and tribulations, but we choose how we react to them. We can either feel sorry for ourselves, or we can turn to the Lord and rely on Him and GROW through our trials rather than just GO through them!

We got to do our first Skype session with a native Hungarian! His name was Lacko (pronounced Lotsko), I can't say I've ever seen that one before! I had to teach him a 30 minutes lesson and I totally thought that i slaughtered the language, but he said that my Hungarian was really well for only 6 weeks, so that was exciting! 

Last night we had the opportunity to help out with a training for the new missionaries that came in yesterday called "People & Your Purpose". Basically there was an investigator and we went in as the missionaries and did the getting to know the investigator part and then the group of 50 new missionaries finished teaching the lesson together. The first "house" we go to is this little Japanese man name Junichi. So we knock on the door and he invites us inside and the first thing he says is that his Mormon friend told him that we were really good singers, and he asked me and my companions to sing a song for him. We didn't know what to do cause we only had like 5 minutes to get to know him so we kind of just laughed it off as he begged us to sing for him. Then we ask him to tell us about himself and he says "Well I have 3 sons and they all attend the U. Are you girls single?" Of course the group of missionaries busted up laughing and me and my companions were hardcore blushing cause we didn't know how to respond. Finally one of my companions, Sister Cribbs, answered "Well we are missionaries, so we just aren't interested in your sons like that." And then we all just bust up laughing and he asked if our missions were for our whole lives and I told him only 18 months after which he replied by saying "Oh, that's not too long, they can wait!" After that it was just a whole bunch of awkward laughing and luckily the new missionaries got to take over soon after so we could hurry out of his "house"! We got to do it again with another investigator named Sharon and that time it went a lot better thank heavens! 

Other than our few awkward teaching moments it was a really good week! I continue to learn so much about the gospel everyday! It is awesome! I am literally so thankful for this awesome experience I have to share the gospel! If any of you out there have even questioned the idea of possibly serving, I would just say to not even let it be a question! A mission is hands down the best thing that you could ever do with your life, and the blessings that come in return are literally unending!

Halfway to Hungary!‏

​Holy cow, I can't believe we've already hit the halfway mark! Things at the MTC have changed a lot this last week! One of our teachers, Fresh Nővér, is getting married next week, so Friday was her last day here at the MTC. She was our very first teacher so it was sad to see her leave, but we are super happy for her! The whole time here she only spoke Hungarian to us, but on Friday she was speaking English, so that was pretty trippy! We had what is considered a party and the MTC and she told us all 

about her mission in Hungary and about the people there! Apparently Hungarians are very superstitious, so that provides for a lot of quality stories!

Yesterday we also got a new batch of Fins in! We were super shocked, but there are 11 of them: 2 sisters and 9 elders! We haven't met them all yet, but we are super ecstatic to have some more people in our zone cause the Estonians leave on Monday and we won't be getting any new ones before we leave! We also met a Hungarian this week named Sister Huszti! She is going on her mission to Canada and she is literally the sweetest thing ever! She knew one of the girls in our district through Facebook so she bought us postcards in Hungary before she left and gave them to us!

Our devotional this week was Gerald Causse, the first counselor in the presiding bishopric! His talk was amazing! Him and his wife both talked alot about the reasons that we are on our missions. Ultimately it all comes back to Christ! Missions aren't easy, and it is hard to leave your life when your life is just starting, but we are doing it for the Lord, and there is no other experience that will ever compare to the one that I have right now! I love my family, and I love my friends, but I love my Savior more and that is the reason that I have chosen to take the time out of my life to serve Him! It's a miraculous work, we literally see miracles here at the MTC everyday! But then again, life in and of itself is a miracle, and I know that you will see the miracles in your life if you choose to look for them!

MTC WK#4

    SEPT. 3, 2015

Sziastok! I can't believe we've been here for a month already! The time just keeps flying! The MTC is basically just the same old thing as usual! Class all day, followed by not quite enough sleep, and then repeat that 20 million times! 

This week all of our Finnish friends left, so that was a little sad, but we are super excited for all of them! Sisar Cardon, our sister training leader, was like our little mom here at the MTC and she was literally the cutest/best human being i've ever met, so we are sad she had to leave! Being her normal adorable self though she left us a box with little gifts for each of the sisters, so that was fun!

For our Tuesday devotion we had the opportunity to have Elder Dallin H. Oaks come and speak to us... talk about AMAZING! He talked a lot about teaching by the Spirit and the importance of the Plan of Salvation as the foundation of our teachings! It was super inspirational!

I don't have a lot of time today, but I just want to leave you guys with my testimony of the Plan of Salvation! God is real, He loves, and there is nothing He wants more than for every one of us to be happy and to return to live with Him, and He has made this possible through the Atonement of His son, Jesus Christ! One thing that Elder Oaks said that really stood out to me, speaking of the Plan of Salvation, was that "Your investigators might not understand how important it is, BUT YOU DO!" There are multiple reasons that I chose to serve a mission, but in the end it all comes down to the fact that I love my family and I am so grateful to have the knowledge that if I live worthily and choose to follow Jesus Christ, I can return to my Father in Heaven and I can live forever with my family as an eternal family, and I want more than anything for the people of Hungary to come to this knowledge also! I love this gospel, and I know that there is nothing that can bring more joy into our lives than if we choose to take advantage of the savior's Atonement and follow Him!
