Sarah's game! |
First things first, shout out to our Békés volleyball star, Sarah! Her team won the Hungarian National Championship Series this week! We were able to go with the ward as a Young Single Adults activity and it was exciting to be able to watch her play and be there as her support given that her family couldn't be! Unfortunately that means she will be leaving to America for the summer and will no longer be in our branch, but I'm glad that we got to know her while she was here, she is such a sweet girl!
Splits in Kispest |
On Wednesday we had Zone Training down in Szeged! There is nothing that
quite compares to Szeged in my eyes, it will forever be my first home in
Hungary! Our training was focused on using the Book of Mormon more in
our work. The Book of Mormon is truly the keystone to our religion, so
as we emphasize the importance of it to those we meet and bear testimony
of it, we are better able to help others come unto Christ, as The Book
of Mormon is purely about Christ, His teachings, and how they apply to
us! So once a testimony is founded on the Book of Mormon, the other
things fall into place. At the end of Zone Conference we were extended a
commitment to start at the beginning of the Book of Mormon and as we
read we are supposed to highlight in different colors 1) every reference
to Christ, 2) Attributes of Christ, 3) Every time that Christ speaks or
his prophets speak on behalf of him, and 4) The doctrines and
principles contained in the Book of Mormon. I was able to start this
challenge last Wednesday, and in the few days I have been doing it, I
have already been able to better see the focus of Christ in the Book of
Mormon, and it has helped me to be able to better understand Christ and
His role as my savior! For anyone that is interested, I would totally
recommend trying this sometime, because I know without a doubt that it
will be able to help you strengthen your testimony of Jesus Christ!

After zone conference we were able to go on splits with the Sister Training Leaders up in Kispest! Both of them ended up getting sick, but we were able to get quite a bit of work done still and we made it to a few teaching appointments as well. Both of the lessons went really well, but one ended in the lady telling one of the sisters that she needs to pop all the zits on her chin, and the other ended in the lady forcing me to take a pair of nylon socks so I wouldn't freeze. They truly weren't necessary, but she insisted, and as a added bonus she said that they "matched my shoes perfectly"... not quite, but it made for a beautiful outfit!
On Friday we met with one of our investigators named Marika! She is super cute and last week we asked her to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true and then extended a soft baptismal challenge to her. After much thought and prayer, this week we decided to just dive straight in and give her a date... and she said YES!!! So Marika will be getting baptized June 4th if all goes according to plan! She does struggle with drinking coffee, but she noticed that Sister Grogan and I never drink and asked me about it last time. I explained the Word of Wisdom to her and how we have been asked not to drink coffee, and I explained that although I am sure it will be hard to stop, the Lord will help her if she truly wants to be baptized! She replied that "If that's what the Lord wants, I will do it!" She is so cute, and truly has a desire to grow closer to Heavenly Father and do as he asks of us! She is a great example to me!
For P-day today we were able to go to Póstelek, some castle ruins that were bombed in World War II and look around, it was really neat, I will send some pictures!!
I love you all and hope you have a great week and a great Mothers Day!
